What you are saying: "who can take a flight to Washington DC on Monday morning, change the law by noon to issue GC to every EB category, have a lunch at Olive Garden, come back monday evening" :
For this you need to hire full time lobbyist which costs a lot
of money. IV budget is nowhere close to that the Hispanic lobby group:
National council of La Raza whose budget is
$40 million or $1.3 billion including its “affiliates” network.
IV is a tiny organization in front of La Raza. Thats....a BILLION with full time lobbyist.
I strongly suggest you listen to the audio interview to understand how big the hispanic

I am silent reader on this site from last one month. It is great to know lot of people are working hard behing the scenes and really appreciate what IV has done regarding bulletin fiasco.

clearly mirage didn't mean growing to the position of exactly VP. he meant a higher and slightly different position, for example an IT Manager. It is not that uncommon, for a IT Progmr who works in the same company for 5-6 years, offered a Manager position.

Girish - CIR was meant to help the illegals not us folk. I hope we never have to see CIR again . It would just mean millions more ahead in line whereas we who have been waiting for years will be sent to the dustbin.:mad:

First of all, forget about back firing, can we get 100 people to do this. IV has been trying for funds and i dont think even 10% have contributed..why would u think any one would loose a pay day? even if you take 20$/hour i.e 160$ per day. Lot of members are not ready to contribute 50 bucks :) There might be a few who can not contribute due to various reasons and i totally sympathize with them but what about the remaining?
My point is not to discourage but just for a reality check

There is life outside of GC. Majority of those waiting in line for GC were able to apply their I-485 during the 2007 fiasco and have the option of using EAD to change employers to make things better to a certain extent.

i think dates won't (and should not ) move much. So at the end of year we can see big jump and then may be people like me can file i-1485.

I have talked to a representative and he very patiently explained me about the mess.
He clearly and very clearly told me that they have a deadline to send all receipts for June end and July 2nd filers by friday (tomorrow) or worst case monday.
He mentioned that they are working hard to meet this deadline.
Hope this clears the anxiety.

Not really h1b is a different track all together. If 485 is denied and the denial is final - person is still free to work till h1b expires thats why lawyers say h1b is safer
This is exactly my lawyer mentioned, AOS deined, you are still good to continue work (and wind up in USA) till your H1(i-94) expires. Hence, it is deemed as "safety". Person gets time to windup before the final bye-bye.

dont worry, the above scenario would happen only if pd remaines current.This is highly unlikely. In the next few months PD would retrogress to for instance 2004 , then you'll get your GC first :) Cheer up buddy:)

Its only Green card and I am not sure why people get upset big deal. Nobody asked us to move here. And if there is a system in place we cannot be saying its bad and this and that. My PD is DEC 04 do I feel bad someone in 2006 gets it. YES. Is the system crappy yes. I have a MS in US. So all this hoopla about US ms are getting it and not us is wrong. The other question is should I be getting it over others who dont have a MS from US. I believe yes we should.
but thats my thoughts on the subject if someone does not like it I respect his thoughts.

Preparing for future is one thing but if you think that this is a valuable thread then go with it and enjoy, i just find it disheartening that people are trying to undermine whatever has been achieved by such threads (Like i said, he might be completely right but is there a need to tell it this way) and what are you going to prepare for the future ;) Do you know it ? (If you do, please keep it to yourself and enjoy or cry about it). Right now, i want to be positive and enjoy the fruits of what IV has done to get some relief, why use negative logic to undermine it and that is what i am saying. I come from a nuclear family in India and see no reason why my kid cannot develop into a good citizen the way my parents made sure I did..........
I learnt at a very young age that living with your cousins/uncles/aunts is not necessarily a guarantee of being close........ I am a lot closer to family I never lived with in the same city than I am to family who lived a few blocks from where we did.........
It is all in how the parents mold the environment for their kids. if we as parents fail in our duty towards our kids, does not matter where you live, we will do a great disservice to society..........
Sure, I dont think there is any one correct answer for this dilemma. Most of us are going to base our decisions on our personal circumstances and hope that they turn out correct in the long run :)
