Thanks to the glorious service of the Atlanta center :mad: I missed the I-485 bus by 7 days( Labor cleared on Aug end ). Many people with later PD's got cleared from the Chicago PERM center . Now I just watch as all members get their EAD's and AP's while I wait with nothing but hope and watch legislation after legislation fail in the senate and house , and the letters flying all over the place .
I remember my past by reading your sad story. Though I had different cause for my tragedy. In Year 2000 November my then employer filed RIR labor and I got approval in January 12th 2001 and Same day HR filed my I-140. On January 22nd during companywide mass lay off I was slashed.. Again go through one more lay off in year 2002 with different employer and still waiting for GC(After filing 4th application in year 2003, Rotting in PBEC for almost 4 years)... Best Luck to you.

Looks like in majority end july through August are pending the receipt of AP not to say some of the guys have still got it but they are from various service centers. Very inconstent. This is a document that has no accountability to be completed by X amount of time but we have all paid fees for it. Come vacation time and no AP, we will have to make the trip without the document. Its not that one decides to go to vacation every month. This is a losing deal for us. How do we address this delay? Infopass does not help I was told unless you decide to lie wholesale.

Its been over a month and I haven't received my permanent license in mail. They keep giving temporary 20 day license asking me to wait. Anybody in NC who recently renewed license on EAD and still waiting to get the permanent license in hand?

There are some stupid morons arguing that Eb2's are more qualified, what a farce! Eb3 guys have been waiting longer than EB2 guys for the most part. I might agree with your conclusion of start date, but Now coming to to cases :
Petetion for an employment based visa = I 140 , that were filed prior to the date of intro ( for our sake its Oct 2008 or May 15 2007 ) that were pending or approved , shall be treated as if such provision remained effective.
An approved petition may server as basis for issuance of an immigrant visa.
and for all people who are still in Labor stage will preserve their priority date.
Now based on this , if you have filed an I140 before the date of enactment what ever it might one should be fine. Once dates becomes current and I140 approved one can file for 485 in previous system.
I dont see any conclusion based on 485 is approved or not its just adjustment of status once PD become current , i think its all 140 that determines you are approved as an immigrant or not.

Mine is filed on May 14th at Atlanta :-(. My employer told me that off late it's taking anywhere between 90 to 120 days.
But I hope I can beat this time after 5 long years. :-)

Its not a rumor. This is real. Coming to think abt it, he had filed a labor in 2000/2001 time period and had abandoned it when he switched companies. I am wondering if USCIS takes the oldest one an applicant had ever filed.

I fully support this donor forum. there should be some incentive for members who donate. they are not doing it because they have lots of money to spare, but they sacrifice because they believe in this cause. I don't think $25 is going to break anyone's bank. Just sacrifice something that you consume/enjoy every week, and donate that.
It's a pity that even with about 25K members, we cannot raise a minimal amount. People need to realize they cannot simply enjoy the benefits of someone else's labor.

a) Pros of this idea
b) Cons of this idea
c) Alternative we might have.
Also, please do not get emotionally attach to an idea let democratically select that is best for the community.
Please limit to those ideas that are executable and within the bounds of law.
In my opinion, we should do this:
Just send two information to USCIS, DOS, President, VP, First Lady and all Congress person of the following:
1. 1st info should have a photocopy of our degree certificate(s). On the same page, print your expereince in years and total tax paid till date to the US government.
2. On a fresh page, type in all the H1B/L VISA approval information and type in bold, we were wanted/invited here legally (and admitted via H1/L).
And, mention that our I140 is approved which means the immigration department has validated our eligibility to become PR.
Ask a question (larger font) on the same page, why keep us on limbo?
This would keep the whole thing short and sweet. We are explicitly saying that we are legals. And we were invited here - legally. We are approved by immigration team to be a PR.
If we could send couple of thousands of letters, I am sure it would have impact as much as any other letter we have in mind.
We are not humiliating them, we are just expressing our frustrations but in mass. May be we can say something like, "Legal Techie slaves in the land of liberty" or "Immigration process that enslave Legal Techies". But, we should keep it short.
As always, ignore this idea if you guys dont like it.

I know this is not the Forum to discuss this matter.
But I hope this should answer some questions
1. Home Loans if the Loan is taken from a US Bank/Mortgage lender
then it is Tax deductible because they send out a 1040 at the end of Tax year.
2. But if the Home Loan is taken from a a NON-US Bank, then it is not Tax deductible in the US. As they do not send out a 1040.
I am not sure thats correct.
Per IRS regulation Section 163 (C), as well as Publication 936, interest paid on primary and secondary residences up to an aggregate one million dollars in loan amount is tax deductible. The IRS regulation does not specify that the home must be located in the United States, and thus it seems logical that interest paid on a home loan on property in India is in fact deductible
(please consult your tax advisor for applicability to your specific tax situation).
But I hope this should answer some questions

Visa Bulletin suggests that severe cut-off date retrogressions are likely to occur early in FY 2008, which starts on October 1, 2007.

I assume yours is a conventional loan, how much equity do you have on your home, and how much down payment did you make on your home purchase first time?
